# Check a quote on a web page with curl

Checks that the words you plan to cite are on a web page. Send the URL and the quote; get back `exact`, `fuzzy` or `none`, with offsets and a signed receipt.

## Paid call

A call with no payment gets `402 Payment Required`. The price and the payment terms are in the `PAYMENT-REQUIRED` header, as base64 JSON.

curl cannot sign a payment. To pay, send the same request with an x402 v2 client: the Node example (node.mjs) or the MCP config (mcp.md) in this folder.

## Read the answer

- `match`: `exact`, `fuzzy` or `none`, in the order of the request.
- `page.content_kind`: check this first. `none` on a `bot_wall` or `js_shell` page means the page could not be read.
- `receipt`: a signed JWS of what the fetcher saw and when.

A request with a bad URL or an empty quote is refused before payment and not charged.
