# Check quotes from an MCP client

Last updated: 2026-10-17

`quoteproof-mcp` is an MCP server (stdio) with one tool per route. It needs Node.js 20.3 or later and no install step: `npx` runs it.

- Tool for a single quote: `attestpage_verify_quote` (route `POST /v1/verify/quote`), US$0.01 per call.
- Tool for 1 to 20 quotes on one page: `attestpage_verify_quotes` (route `POST /v1/verify/quotes`), US$0.02 per call.
- Free trial: 10 calls per IP address a day, no key needed.

## Config

Most MCP clients take a block like this:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "quoteproof": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "https://vehcdj664efetfrsolne5umanq.srv.us/dl/quoteproof-mcp-0.1.48.tgz"],
      "env": { "QUOTEPROOF_URL": "https://vehcdj664efetfrsolne5umanq.srv.us" }
    }
  }
}
```

With no key the server uses the free trial. Once the trial is used up, the tool returns the price and stops.

## Paying

Add a Base wallet key to pay in USDC. The key stays in the MCP server's process.

```json
"env": {
  "QUOTEPROOF_URL": "https://vehcdj664efetfrsolne5umanq.srv.us",
  "QUOTEPROOF_X402_KEY": "0x...",
  "QUOTEPROOF_NETWORKS": "eip155:8453",
  "QUOTEPROOF_MAX_USD": "0.02"
}
```

- `QUOTEPROOF_NETWORKS` lists the networks the server will pay on (Base, `eip155:8453`).
- `QUOTEPROOF_MAX_USD` caps the price of one call. An offer above the cap is refused locally and nothing is signed.

## Remote endpoint

No local process: point the client at `https://vehcdj664efetfrsolne5umanq.srv.us/mcp` (streamable HTTP).

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "quoteproof": { "type": "http", "url": "https://vehcdj664efetfrsolne5umanq.srv.us/mcp" }
  }
}
```

The remote endpoint uses the free trial, then returns the payment requirements. To pay over HTTP, put an x402 payment payload in `_meta["x402/payment"]` of the tool call. See [MCP server](https://vehcdj664efetfrsolne5umanq.srv.us/docs/mcp).

## Terms

Pay per call, no account. See [Payments](https://vehcdj664efetfrsolne5umanq.srv.us/docs/payments), [Limits](https://vehcdj664efetfrsolne5umanq.srv.us/docs/limits) and the [Terms](https://vehcdj664efetfrsolne5umanq.srv.us/terms).
